Medicaid Determination
Medicaid eligibility verification is performed annually by states to verify Medicaid recipients are still eligible to receive Medicaid. The process was put on hold as of March 2020 because of the Public
Health Emergency (PHE). The suspension for redetermination is no longer tied to the PHE. Therefore the Medicaid renewal/redetermination process will resume.
Starting February 1, 2023, states can begin to initiate the Medicaid Redetermination process. For states that initiate the process in February 2023, disenrollment can go into effect as early as April 1,
2023 for anyone deemed ineligible for Medicaid. ![]()
What this means
Persons who currently receive Medicaid assistance from their state Medicaid program will be subject to Medicaid Redetermination. Beneficiaries will receive requests from the state asking that they
validate their contact information and provide documentation to determine continued Medicaid eligibility. Beneficiaries that are excluded from Medicaid renewal/redetermination will receive
notification that informs them their renewal is complete.![]()
Beneficiaries will be notified approximately 60 calendar days prior to any disenrollment. Example: A beneficiary subject to disenrollment on April 1st due to no longer being eligible for Medicaid will receive notification in February. ![]()

✔️ For those with drug coverage with a Part C or D plan, vaccines recommended by the ACIP are free starting January 2023.
